If you like spin fishing, try a lure called a kast master. It is shaped like a metal rod cut at sharp angles. Gold kastmasters work well on the Lower Illinois. From the Dam towards Gore, follow the signs to a Gravel Company, you will see roads toward the river. If gravel company is open, you can ask to park near river. They normally don't care, but might lock the gate if they don't know you are in there. Walk upriver and fish the deeper (3'+) water with fast retrieves. If nothing, slow it down. When I am fly fishing here, I mainly use Dries, but when I switch to streamers I have found that the fish like them moving fast most of the time. If you catch a Brown, please return it as quickly as possible. No boat needed, Try power house access at dam first, there is a gravel bar where the bait fishers do well and when nobody is there I fish it. Good spot with moving water no matter what condition.
